Fabrication / Materials Used:
The Sanlam project involved a custom-designed stage and set build, using a variety of materials and construction techniques to achieve a cohesive and striking presentation.
- Stage:
- The stage covered an area of 67.6 sqm (16.09m x 4m) and was constructed from 6mm MDF, finished with black roller paint.
- Custom infill pieces, 730mm high, were designed to create a half-moon structure. These pieces were crafted from plywood and MDF, also finished with roller paint.
- Stage fascia panels (12m x 780mm) were made from 6mm MDF and finished with roller paint to blend seamlessly with the stage design.
- Steps:
- The custom steps measured 4800mm x 780mm and were built from plywood and MDF, finished with roller paint to match the overall aesthetic of the stage.
- Set Custom Back Wall:
- A large custom back wall (12.4m x 3.92m) was constructed from MDF, with a roller paint finish, designed to complement and surround the LED lighting.
- Set Planter with Slat Feature:
- A custom planter box measuring approximately 6m x 1m was constructed from plywood and MDF, with a roller paint finish. Spruce slats were added to the design, treated with a clear coat for added durability and detail.
- Left Side – Feature Slat Wall (Small):
- The left side slat wall (4m x 2780mm) was crafted from MDF and plywood with spruce slats. A custom frame was designed to accommodate LED lighting, with a clear coat applied to the slats for added durability.
- Left Side – Feature Slat Wall (Large):
- The larger left side feature slat wall (10m x 4110mm) was constructed from MDF and plywood, featuring spruce slats. The slats were installed in a custom frame and finished with roller paint.
- Right Side – Feature Slat Wall:
- This slat wall (6m x 4250mm) was also constructed from MDF and plywood, with spruce slats. It included a custom frame to integrate LED lighting and a roller paint finish.
- CNC Backlit Logo & Emblem:
- A CNC-cut backlit logo and emblem were incorporated into the design, creating a visually appealing and professional display.
