Fabrication & Materials Used:
- Wall Display Unit with Shelf:
- MDF structure mounted on a brick wall using French cleats, cladded with cork tiles for added texture. Includes 8 powder-coated steel rods and 16 CNC-cut holes for flexible display options. LED strip lighting with a diffuser channel enhances the display’s visual impact.
- Wall Display Shelf:
- MDF shelf with a satin spray finish, chemically anchored to the brick wall for durability and strength, offering an elegant platform for merchandise or decor.
- Centre Display Unit:
- MDF single-tier base with a solid oak central display stand finished in Rubio Monocoat. Accented with three custom white-sprayed feature stoppers for product display.
- Feature Display:
- MDF frame with a satin white spray finish, featuring a cork inlay for texture. Two powder-coated steel rails, secured with French cleats, provide a stylish display solution.
- Point of Sale Counter:
- Constructed from PLY & MDF, half covered with oak slats finished in Rubio Monocoat. Open shelving at the back offers convenient storage, while the MDF countertop is satin-sprayed for durability.
- Three-Tier Custom Pendant Light:
- Made from MDF with oak veneer inlays, this 3000mm pendant is satin-sprayed and suspended from steel rods or cables, serving as a striking lighting feature in the space.
Significance:
The KoiKoi project successfully merges functionality with design innovation, incorporating natural materials like oak and cork to create an inviting, upscale environment. Custom lighting and high-end finishes add to the space’s sophistication, making it ideal for retail or display purposes.
Challenges Worth Noting:
Careful coordination was required to ensure the seamless integration of the cork inlays and LED lighting, as well as secure mounting of heavy display units to the brick walls.
