Fabrication / Materials Used
The Anglo American project is a custom-designed exhibition booth, featuring several complex and tailored elements:
- Bulkhead and Back Wall:
- Constructed from MDF, the bulkhead comprises 41 ribs, while the back wall includes 42 double-ribbed sections designed to accommodate an LED screen wall.
- Storeroom:
- A lockable storeroom is included, with support bars for rigging. The client is responsible for supplying rigging materials and grey back vinyl.
- Inner Hub:
- Built from 48mm MDF with a satin spray finish. The hub includes a basic glass display unit (not lockable), a glass top, and space prepared for full grey back vinyl on the drop. CNC logos and laser-cut text, made from MDF and finished in satin spray, enhance booth branding.
- Counters and Engagement Areas:
- The welcome counter, digital counters, and engagement areas are constructed from MDF with a two-tone satin spray finish. These areas feature curved details and multi-tiered designs.
- Tablet stations and digital engagement areas incorporate AV/fabric banner walls with LED lighting. Custom tables include touch display units. AV equipment, tablets, fabric banners, and graphics are to be supplied by the client.
- Barrister Counter:
- Constructed with 30mm MDF ribs and a satin spray finish, the counter includes basic shelving and integrated LED lighting.
- Other Key Features:
- The entire design and fabrication were handled by the project team, while the client was responsible for AV equipment and fabric banners.
Significant Aspects of the Project
- Award-Winning Design: The booth’s design won an award, highlighting its impressive and innovative structure.
Challenges Worth Noting
- Bulkhead Complexity:
- The bulkhead’s sheer size required substantial manpower. A single fin took 15 men to carry, and 30 fins were constructed in total.
- The contours of the land and height complexities added to the challenge, with several fins measuring 5.11 meters tall.
